If you need to know a bit more about me… I’ve just finished writing my fifth, full (unpublished) novel. After downing tools for the last time, I thought ‘enough of that for a bit’ and gave building a website a try. Here it is…

Two agents happened to express an interest in one of my earlier titles within a week of this momentous decision. So that was nice. Sadly, I have heard since neither of them will be picking up the book. Bugger.

It took nearly six months of back and forth emails and letters to get that final, resounding No. Nothing in publishing happens overnight (not even this website!) During that time, and flushed with success, I decided to revisit some other old pieces I’d left alone for far too long. Port Cullis for instance. And made some progress I think.

I was able to work extra hard as I had also completed my OU A-level in English Literature. Gradually, Port Cullis, and this website, began to take shape. I read Anthony Horowitz, Eoin Colfer and Justin Somper whilst working on them. I dare say their influence has sunk in...

I’ve re-written several chapters this year, but now think Port Cullis is ready for the market. The website is ready for a professional outfit to take it on, never mind, it’ll have to do. I know this time I’ve made my characters stronger, my plot twistier and my scenes more believable than ever before. Plus, I’ve built the whole thing on the most rock-solid idea I’ve ever had. Now, all I need’s an agent who believes me…

When I’m not writing, I like to get out on my motorbike. I’m married with kids (x2 – a girl and a boy). I am the eldest of 7, with 5 younger sisters & 1 younger brother. I have a degree in Chartered Surveying (don’t ask me why?) from Plymouth University. And I think John Mayer, look him up on Amazon, is brilliant.

I really began to take my writing seriously in 2001 but in the last 2 years have been obsessed by it. I am committed to writing for children and young adults and am determined to break into this competitive market.

If you’re an agent, looking to build a long-term writer/agent partnership with an author who is dynamic, keen & full of potential, please get in touch.

Other Relevant Experience

I am a qualified surveyor, specialising in land law but have worked as an IT consultant for nearly ten years now. I have lived and worked in Germany and travelled extensively throughout the US. A number of properties in my hometown bare the scars of my clumsy attempts at DIY, so when I talk about property improvements (or more often the destruction of private property!) I’m on pretty safe ground. Close friends manage a power station, fly a passenger jet and put people back together in Nottingham QMC’s High Dependency Unit; so when I discuss the potential for disaster in any of these areas, you can bet I’ve quizzed them about it first…
